THE ABOVE PICTURE
OF CHRIST OF MERCY was requested by Our Lord to St. Faustina in 1931. One Hand is raised in blessing and the other is pointing to the place of His pierced Heart where rays emanate:-
THE PALE RAY STANDS FOR THE WATER WHICH MAKES SOULS RIGHTEOUS. THE RED RAY STANDS FOR THE BLOOD WHICH IS THE LIFE OF SOULS. THESE TWO RAYS ISSUED FORTH FROM THE VERY DEPTHS OF MY TENDER MERCY WHEN MY AGONIZED HEART WAS OPENED BY A LANCE ON THE CROSS. HAPPY IS THE ONE WHO WILL DWELL IN THEIR SHELTER, FOR THE JUST HAND OF GOD SHALL NOT LAY HOLD OF HIM" (Diary 299)
THE PICTURE OF DIVINE MERCY IS AN AFFIRMATION OF CHRIST'S COVENANT in his blood, SEALED WITH our response, "Jesus I Trust You". As the Blood on the doorposts of God's people during the Exodus saved the Israelites, so the true "Blood of the Lamb --The Water and the Blood", is God's Covenant of Eternal Faithfulness today with His People:
"These are they who have come out
of the great tribulation and have washed their robes and made them white
in the Blood of the Lamb.
The Lamb shall rule
them and lead them to the fountains of the Waters of Life"
(Apoc. 7: 3, 9, 13, 17)
